Relationship Therapy

Relationships can be one of the greatest sources of connection in our lives — but they can also become the place where we feel most hurt, frustrated or misunderstood.

You may find yourselves having the same argument over and over again, struggling to communicate without things escalating, or simply feeling as though you have lost the closeness you once had. Trust may have been damaged, intimacy may have changed, or the pressures of everyday life may have gradually created distance between you.

For families, difficulties can arise through changing roles, separation, parenting, blended families, bereavement, conflict or simply feeling that nobody is really hearing one another anymore.

At Therapy of Mind, Relationship Therapy offers couples and families a supportive, balanced space to slow things down and begin understanding what is happening beneath the conflict.

Our approach is grounded in Gestalt and relational therapy, which means we pay particular attention to what happens between people — how you communicate, the roles you fall into, the emotions underneath your reactions and the needs that can sometimes be difficult to express.

Rather than deciding who is right or wrong, we look together at the patterns that have developed within the relationship. Often, the argument happening today is about much more than the dishes, money, parenting or who said what. When we begin to understand what sits underneath those repeating cycles, it becomes possible to respond to one another differently.

Relationship Therapy can help you communicate more openly, express needs and boundaries, understand each other’s perspectives, repair hurt and rebuild emotional connection. It can also provide a space to work through significant difficulties such as loss of trust, infidelity, separation, major life changes or differences about what you each want for the future.

There is no expectation that therapy must have a particular outcome. For some couples and families, the work is about reconnecting and strengthening relationships. For others, it may be about navigating change, establishing healthier boundaries or finding a more compassionate way forward.

Whatever has brought you here, you don’t need to have worked out the answers before you arrive. The starting point is simply being willing to have the conversation.
